Creating an Independent Ethics Commission

"The current stalemate in the House [ethics committee] illustrates the problems with an ethics process that is partisan. It is important to take partisanship out of the ethics process so that members of Congress are held accountable for unethical behavior regardless of which party is in power. Urge Speaker Hastert to appoint an independent investigator to resolve ethics complaints against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and support the implementation of an independent ethics commission to replace the current partisan House Ethics Committee proces"
